Colorado River Rafting

The Colorado River has much to offer to the outdoor enthusiast. The river is known as one of the best white water rivers to raft in the west if not in the United States. It is no surprise that River Rafting on the Colorado River is continuing to grow in popularity. The river has sections perfect for beginners with smooth waters and majestic vistas. Further along there are sections of river to challenge the experts with class IV and V rapids. The river starts out high in the Rocky Mountains and gains momentum and size as it speeds towards the coast. Along the river visitors can see everything from historical sites to the beautiful geology that the river helped form. Truly Colorado River Rafting offers something for everyone, and everyone should take the opportunity to enjoy rafting the river during their life.

These whitewater rafting trips are located on the Colorado/Utah border or on the Colorado River and feature some of the region's most remote and beautiful river rafting country.

Colorado River Rafting

"All kits were in perfect condition. All the guides on our trip were friendly, informative, efficient and helpful.  No improvement possible!   The hikes were short which in the heat was good - and interesting. The food was really excellent. Especially the steaks! And breakfast, and lunch...  The bus that took us to the launching site was  more than a cut above the other companies launching at the same time. We came from the UK to spend 2 weeks in Utah.  We spent a week in Zion and then headed East for our rafting trip. It was a highlight of the holiday, especially as we lay in our sleeping bags on the first night, in a long line, counting shooting stars.  Totally memorable.  Thank you for a really brilliant rafting trip. I would love to think we will be back sometime and we would definitely recommend you to our friends..

Colorado River rafting with Holiday Expeditions

Colorado River Rafting: Westwater Canyon

Westwater offers great rapids in what many consider to be the most scenic canyon on the Colorado River. There are wonderful camping beaches here, along with interesting side canyons and historic sites (Native American, outlaw and pioneer.) This is a great choice for people seeking a shorter trip that doesn't skimp on excitement.

Colorado River Rafting: Cataract Canyon

Cataract Canyon of the Colorado River takes you to the heart of Canyonlands National Park. Otherwise inaccessible side canyons, pristine camping beaches and the largest rapids the Colorado River has to offer await you. Prehistoric Native American sites are a short walk from rivers edge. If you want to see the best of the Colorado River and truly get away from it all, this is the one.

Yampa River Rafting

The Yampa is the last undammed river in the Colorado River system. The best Colorado River Rafting occurs during May and June, when spring flows crank the rapids up to high adventure. Warm Springs Rapid is rated among the 10 biggest drops in the country. Miles of tiger-striped walls make this one of the most photogenic canyons around. Other attractions include side-canyon waterfalls, Ancestral Puebloan rock art and whispering caves.

Green River Rafting: Lodore Canyon

Lodore Canyon provided the first major test for John Wesley Powell on his famous explorations, and his descriptive names live on today: Disaster Falls, Triplet Falls and Hells Half Mile challenge river runners. This trip takes you into the rugged backcountry of Dinosaur National Monument, past scenic vermillion cliffs and rainbow-colored rock formations.
